Happy Pride, from all of us at PD

At Public Digital, we believe that the best teams are diverse teams, and we’re committed to being a workplace where everyone feels included, visible, safe and celebrated.

As an organisation that works across the world, we want PD to be a place that feels joyful, where people are able to share what makes them uniquely them. We value diversity in all its forms – ensuring our work is intersectional – and we're constantly striving for a culture of continuous improvement in this area.

Pride month is just one of the ways that we celebrate diversity at PD, and we wanted to share what we’re doing this year.

Firstly, we’re honoured that Sarah Drummond is going to join one of our PD snack and share sessions. Sarah will be telling us about creating ‘Don’t Say Gay’, a feature-length documentary uncovering the story of Section 28, a piece of legislation that was part of the Local Government Act 1988, which banned the “promotion” of homosexuality in the UK and had deep, lasting impact on generations of the LGBTQIA+ community.

As well as understanding the historical events that have negatively impacted our LGBTQIA+ community, we also want to celebrate the achievements we’ve made, as well as sharing stories about our history, our lives, our creativity and our contributions to the world. We’re encouraging staff to share videos, podcasts, blogs, stories, books and articles about the history of Pride or life as an LGBTQIA+ person.

Like many organisations, we’ve updated our brand for the month of June to show the world that we are proud members, supporters and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community. Many of our staff keep the Pride logo in their email signature all year round as a sign of that consistent, lasting support.

Other activities we have planned include a Pride book club and a session on allyship. And because we believe music is a powerful and joyful way to bring people together, we’ve co-created a PD Pride 2025 playlist, which will be part of our annual Summer Gathering this month.

Throughout the year, we’ll be sharing even more about what we’re doing to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture at Public Digital, from ongoing learning and development initiatives to regular diversity audits and transparent reporting. Together, we’ll continue to learn, adapt and raise the bar on what it means to be truly inclusive.
