Announcing Emma Gawen as our new Managing Director

I’m delighted to share the news that from today Emma will be the Managing Director at Public Digital and will join the PD Board.

As our first employee Emma has been an essential part of PD’s story, building long lasting client relationships and outstanding teams. She has been instrumental in building our business, most recently leading our Americas practice. Here she’s worked with clients across North and South America in places as far apart as Peru, Washington DC and Nova Scotia.

Emma’s career has been focused on helping organisations change and transform using the internet. Many of us met her as a Deputy Director at GDS, leading technology strategy, and she has worked across a diverse set of global organisations. From helping the New Zealand Government set up a digital centre to rolling out products at Xero, the leading cloud based accounting software.

When we started Public Digital we always intended to be greater than the four Founders, both in size and in spirit. Susan, one of our Board members, calls this moving from Founder Led to Founder Inspired. We’ve been on that journey for a while and Emma’s appointment is a significant step along that path.

Emma takes over from Andrew, our previous MD, who, following the success of The Radical How, will be leading PD’s global thought leadership. I’d like to give a huge thanks to Andrew for the integral role he’s played and will continue to play in the growth and quality of our work.

We’re a fast growing consultancy, nearly 100 people. As we grow we need to be intentional about how we scale. The focus for Emma and I next year is building on our strong foundations, so that PD continues to deliver exceptional work for our clients and be a great place to work.

As ever, if you’d like to meet for a catch up drop me or Emma a line.
